5 Times Jessica Pearson of ‘Suits’ Embodied Woman of Power

In my blog post about the Impostor Syndrome, I talked about how Suits was creating unrealistic expectations of success. Harvey maybe, but Jessica Pearson is something else.

For those of you who do not watch the show, she is one of the characters who is the big boss of a corporate law firm in Manhattan. As managing partner, she calls the shots when the firm is faced with a crisis or decides to take on a new client.

It may sound silly admiring a fictional character, but it’s more than that. Representation in the media is important because it sends a message of the possibilities of what women can achieve. It also normalises the idea of women in positions of power, something that is lacking in the entrepreneurship industry.

Although Jessica may come off as aggressive, it’s important to note how her male counterparts are even more vicious. If Jessica backed down from a fight or bowed down to pressure from a client, she would’ve lost her company to other power-hungry .

Here are 5 times she showed what power means:

  1. She believes in herself when others don’t

jessica shut down

2. When she’s insulted, she doesn’t hold back

3. She doesn’t let other people make decisions for her

4. Is she cares, she says it

jessica care

5. She makes the right decisions with the whole firm in mind, even if she knows people will hate her for it
